All About Bri

I’m Briana Sanchez, otherwise known as Bri of briversusart! I was born and raised in Houston, Texas. I’ve been artistic my whole life from my failed popstar career as a kindergartener to filling up sketchbooks in middle school. I graduated from the High School for Visual and Performing Arts (now Kinder Arts School) where I focused on film and illustration.

After high school, I attended Maryland Institute College of Art where I majored in game design and painting. While my focus changed on paper, the through line between film and games stayed consistent—narratives.

Narrative design has been at the core of my art journey for years. Film and games were just my method for telling my stories. Now, zines and comics are the vehicle of choice.

Since the 2016 election, my art has been political. As a Latina woman, everything about me is a political statement. Trump’s victory lit a fire in me. I have to use my voice and perspective to pursue change in this country and even the world. My main body of work highlights this mission.

When I’m not fighting the good fight, I’m cuddling my three black cats or reading feminist texts.
